Our Maldon Bed base is a solid base with a Head and Foot end. The upright headboard allows you to prop up the pillows and linger in bed a little longer enjoying your favourite book and a cup of tea. Solid 140 x 32 mm timber frame and 3 slat components form the mattress base.

Standard Platform Height: – from floor to top of platform available in 30 cm or 36 cm.

If you would like a higher platform, between 37 cm and a maximum of 60 cm is available at an extra cost. Please select this option and specify your height request in the customer comments when you place your order.

Standard head posts are 120cm, foot-end posts 90cm.

PLEASE NOTE: Our slat panels on the base of the bed are supplied raw and sanded. The slats are not seen once the mattress and bed linen have been placed on top. We believe it’s better to leave the slats themselves natural and reduce the risk of the oil being transferred onto your organic mattress.

Note that the Katherine (low-rise or mid-rise) is the only recommended bed base for our HIGHLY CHEMICALLY SENSITIVE customers.
SLATS on all beds are glued, however the Katherine low-rise or mid-rise is the only style of bed with no glue used, and for a minimal extra charge, can have screwed slats (so no glue used at all!).

Footnote: Minimal PVA glue is used on all our bases and furniture; it is sandwiched between timbers, dries rockhard within 10 - 20 minutes after application and does not outgas.
